Tens of millions of our own kind are killed by diseases in spite of the laudable effort of our healthcare teams every single year that the problem of immunity remains unsolved. But this problem is not longstanding because of the complexity of the nature of immunity but rather because we have been trying to obtain the knowledge we require to solve problems from theories that are logically deduced from observations when such knowledge can only be obtained from theories that are obtained with a method that requires reality to be illustrated and deductions to be made only for the purpose of knowing whether or not we have obtained the knowledge we seek from the results of our illustrations through the agreement or disagreement between facts and the consequences we have deduced from such results. The most influential among the theories of immunity is that which Ilya Mechnikov logically deduced from inflammatory phenomena in which phagocytosing cells that envelope and store foreign entities are brought to sites of cell death even in the absence of pathogens. Logical conclusions from observations have been unable to verifiably account for the nature of long COVID or the nature of its solution. In this paper, a verifiable hypothesis emerges from the reality we have illustrated with a superior method of obtaining knowledge which makes logical deductions only to obtain consequences, those predictions which must agree perfectly with observations if indeed our hypotheses are the knowledge we require to solve longstanding problems. The results of the illustrated reality in the previous investigation 1 lead to a very interesting and important consequence. And with the goal of eliminating difficulties such as those presented by long COVID, we shall deduce this consequence here.

Reality has failed to agree with the expectation that vaccines will solve the COVID-19 problem by preventing onward transmission of the coronavirus known as SARS-CoV-2, which followed logical deductions from inflammatory phenomena in which Mechnikov and his contemporaries described immunity as originating from the elimination of pathogens by a system of cells and substances that has since been named the immune system. But upon illustrating the reality in which we are protected from the pathological manifestations that occur in response to the pathogen in immunological phenomena, it was found to be that in which the pathogen does not cause such pathological manifestations through effects that are due to its mere presence but rather through effects that are due to its influence on pathological mechanisms so that immune mechanisms do not protect us from such pathological manifestations by eliminating the pathogen but rather by making asymptomatic hosting of the pathogen possible. And such protection, which occurs in spite of the presence of the pathogen when the conditions from which it originates are present, is obtained by means of infection with the same pathogen through the attenuation of its

Logical deductions from experimental data have been unable to explain the origin of the current monkeypox outbreaks in multiple countries. But upon illustrating the reality in which these outbreaks occur, it was found to be that in which different diseases of the same immunological nature, the nature that permits them to be rendered asymptomatic simultaneously without the elimination of their different causes, appear simultaneously when conditions that permitted immune mechanisms to bring about such protection disappear. An outbreak of such immunologically equivalent diseases therefore does not require the spread of those that are pathogens among the causes of such diseases to occur. And the manifestations of such diseases will become widespread in a population when factors that cause the disappearance of conditions that permitted them to be rendered asymptomatic by immune mechanisms become widespread in the population. If we will escape the threat that the catastrophically widespread appearance of manifestations such as Ebola and malignancies will pose to our species, our topmost research priority ought to be the immunological nature of the pathological effects of the pathogens that are linked with them.

The results of the investigation of the exact nature of the mechanisms that ensure the organism's survival in the face of the pathogen's pathological effects reveal those severe co-occurring manifestations that are temporally linked to a pathogen, such as those which appear in COVID-19 patients, to be manifestations of different diseases which are brought about through the same pathway under the influence of different causes which include the pathogen. Since the single pathway through which all of such diseases, which have the same "immunological nature," are brought about must be blocked for the attenuation of the influence of the pathogen to bring about the remission of the disease it causes, such diseases will undergo simultaneous remission when conditions permit immune mechanisms to attenuate the causative influences of the pathogen. Therefore, when conditions do not permit immune mechanisms to attenuate the influence under which any of the diseases in the same "immunological spectrum" as the disease the pathogen causes is produced through the pathway, the manifestations of such diseases that are linked with the pathogen will persist despite treatments that reduce pathogen load and the pathogen will appear to be resistant to treatment. These results throw light on the different immunological phenomena which include those that inspired variolation and vaccination, remissions that are temporally linked with infection, the multiorgan manifestations that are seen in COVID-19 as well as long COVID.
