1. Introduction
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by SARS-CoV-2 has led to a
major pandemic in early 2020. The typical clinical syndrome is a
respiratory illness, which can be responsible for severe viral pneumonia
(1). In infected children symptoms are rather milder compared to adults
(2), with a majority of pauci-symptomatic forms (3). In severely ill
pediatric patients, main symptoms are fever, tachypnea, productive
cough, expectoration, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea and asthenia (4).
Various neurological symptoms were also reported in adults and children,
consistent with a neurological tropism of coronaviruses that receive
more and more interest in the case of SARS-CoV-2 (5). We report on a
6-year-old girl with early cranial polyneuropathy associated with
COVID-19 after allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT)
for sickle cell anemia (SCA).
