Part 1: Activities
Activity 1: Hide and seek
- The teacher should divide the class into groups (2 or 4).
- The teacher will handle one different object for each group. It can be a pen, or an eraser.
- To perform the activity, students must be in different places, but these places must have a
common point, such as a door.
- Each group will hide its object.
- From the common point, groups will film a video direction, so the
other groups can find its hidden object, by follow up the video's instructions.
- The video direction should include number of steps in a certain
direction (forward, left, right), and other tasks, open a door, for
example.
- When groups are done filming, one student from each group shall share the group’s video on YouTube, or they can just exchange iPads.
- By watching other group’s video, each group must follow up commands in
the video to try to find hidden objects
- Explain instruction, commands and sequence to students, so they can understand how a computer “think”.
If you still have time to do a second activity.
Activity 2: Collage art sequence
Applying glue to make a sequence of art.
1. Study the chemical products and the manufacturing process that are used to manufacture glue and present them to students.
2. Present interactive videos about glue manufacturing process for students.
3. Find a beautiful picture and cut it in pieces, so students can “assembly” it as a puzzle using the glue.
4. Introduce the sequence of the picture and tools that children should use to make a collage art.
5. When they are done assembling, you can make a mural with those arts.
